Dr. Kelley received his BS in Biology, University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Arkansas, and his Medical Degree, University of Arkansas College of Medicine, Little Rock, AR.

He completed his internship and residency at St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri; a fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences; and an interventional fellowship in Cardiology, University of Alabama at
Birmingham, AL.

Dr. Kelley is Board-Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Kleinpeter is an associate in the Surgeons Group  of Baton Rouge. He grew up in the area and is a graduate of Catholic High, LSU and LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.

He held positions at Kleinpeter Farms, LSU Golf Course and Pennington Biomedical Research Center before completing his general surgery residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C.

His affiliations include Alpha Omega Alpha, Resident Admission; American College of Surgeons, Resident Member; Gamma Beta Phi (Academic/Volunteerism Society); and the academic honor society Alpha Epsilon Delta.

Dr. Meek is a native of Baton Rouge. He received his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, La., and completed an Internal Medicine residency, serving as Chief Resident at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has been in practice since 1999. Dr. Meek specializes in adult and adolescent primary care and preventive medicine. His special interest is in treatment of diabetes, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, hypertension, high cholesterol and heart disease. Dr. Meek follows patients ages 15 and older.

Dr. Kearley received his BS in Biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.  He then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center and his internal medicine residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. He continued his medical training at the University of Florida by doing a Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship.  He currently is a pulmonary critical care specialist for Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Kearley lives in Baton Rouge with his wife and three sons.


Cognitive Decline & Dementia: Updates on Aging

Dr Jeffrey Keller is a Professor and Associate Executive Director for Basic Research at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC). Dr. Keller is also the recipient of the Hibernia National Bank/Edward G. Schlieder Endowed Chair at PBRC. Dr Keller has published over 100 peer reviewed articles on the topics of aging, oxidative stress, and Alzheimer’s disease. At the PBRC Dr Keller continues his NIH funded work on the anti-aging effects of caloric restriction and identifying the basis of oxidative stress in Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, Dr Keller will expand his work into understanding the influence of diet in modulating the development and progression of both dementia and neuropathology. Dr Keller also serves as the Director of the Institute for Dementia Research and Prevention, which he established at the PBRC in 2008.

Dr. Gahan earned his degree from the University of Illinois in 1976.  He completed three years of Internal Medicine training at Washington University in St Louis.  Since 1979 he has practiced Internal Medicine in Baton Rouge.  Dr Gahan was among the first Board Certified Geriatricians, passing the first qualifying exam in 1988.  He maintains current Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.  A past board member of Alzheimer’s Services and a current faculty appointee at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Dr Gahan has a keen interest in aging and the other memory disorders of growing old.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Dr. Patterson attended Catholic High School. His is a Texas Aggie (Texas A&M University undergrad) and received his medical degree with honors from LSU Medical Center- New Orleans before moving to Hershey, Pennsylvania (along with his wife Margaret, a pediatrician) for dermatology training at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He joins Calais Dermatology Associates to practice with Drs. Christopher McEwen and John Brantley. Dr. Patterson’s professional interests focus on primary medical dermatology, including acne, cutaneous infections and allergy, patient education and skin cancer.
