Dr. Moisés A. Arriaga's clinical practice and research interests are focused on medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the Ear, Hearing, Balance, Facial Nerve, Acoustic Neuroma, and Skull Base Tumors.  Dr. Arriaga is the Director of Otology – Neurotology and Professor of Otolaryngology and Neurosurgery at Louisiana State University. He is also the Director of the Hearing and Balance Center at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge and the Director of the CNC Hearing and Balance Center at Culicchia Neurological Clinic in New Orleans. Following Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Arriaga developed and currently directs the Cochlear Implant Program at Children's Hospital in New Orleans.

Physical Activity and Ethnic Minority Health

Dr. Newton's research interests center on health promotion in ethnic minorities. Much of the work focuses on physical activity promotion as it relates to African Americans. Currently, Dr. Newton is leading a study that will assess the effect of a community-based exercise training intervention in African American men. Other current research projects relate to the use of technology to promote physical activity in children and the relationship of physical activity to health outcomes in a large epidemiological study of African American adults.
