Dr. Hinkle received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his Residency and Internship at David Grant USAF Hospital, and his fellowship in pulmonary/critical care/sleep medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He stayed on, after his training, as a staff physician, where he was medical director of both respiratory therapy care department and the medical intensive care unit.
Dr. Hinkle served in the United States Air Force including several tours in the Middle East and Afghanistan, earning the Global War on Terrorism Medal as well as the Army Commendation Medal. After separating from the military, he spent several years in private practice in San Antonio and Racine, Wisconsin before making Baton Rouge his home.
Dr. Hinkle is married to Dr. Jeannemarie Hinkle, of endocrinology. He is a fellow of both the American College of chest physicians and the American Academy of sleep medicine and holds board certification in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine, the latter of which from both from the American board of internal medicine and the American board of sleep medicine.
Dr. Hinkle practices all facets of pulmonary and critical care medicine but has a particular interest in sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and parasomnias (unusual behaviors during sleep at night).
